File sync specialist (temp position)

Note: this position has been filled as of 1/24/2019

New York, NY / Part-time, temporary

Work-from-home computer tasks for someone who can work four or five evenings per week, beginning January 21st, for approximately 2 weeks. Possibility of additional hours beginning in April.

Relevant makes software which is used by social workers and care managers to help patients with complex needs. Every day, our platform is used by the staff at dozens of non-profit organizations around NYC to care for tens of thousands of patients.

We're required to sync data from our system with another system on a nightly basis. Unfortunately, it's not possible to automate this process (yay healthcare!), so we need someone to help us with this syncing process.

The tasks involved go something like this: log into our system via Remote Desktop; click buttons; wait for a file to process; download the file; log into the the other system; click buttons; upload the file; click more buttons. Each step needs to be recorded in a log that we keep as a Google Spreadsheet.

Some of the files take only a few minutes to process; others take up to an hour, so between some steps there can be quite a bit of downtime. A few steps can be completed during the day, but most of the work needs to be handled in the evening, starting at 5pm eastern.

Main Responsibilities

  • Follow a set of instructions regarding the file sync process described above.

  • Record each step in a Google Spreadsheet.

  • Help us figure out how to improve various parts of this process over time.

Key requirements

  • Tech-savvy. You should be comfortable getting around Windows and Mac environments, using Google Spreadsheets, and figuring out stuff like how to right-click if you're using Remote Desktop on a Mac.

  • Organized and detail-oriented. These tasks aren't super complicated, but there are many of them, they have to be handled in a specific order, and skipping one can cause all sorts of problems. Meticulous is good.

  • Communicative. Sometimes unexpected things pop up in the sync process. We need someone who will prioritize keeping us up to date on the problems they encounter and also let us know when everything is working as it should.

  • Available four or five evenings per week. We're looking for someone who's available on a regular basis for four or five weekday evenings each week, and can tell us in advance if they won't be available on a particular day.

Compensation

  • Pay is $22/hour.
