Analytics Services and Operations Analyst

New York, NY or Remote / Full-time

Join a small, dynamic team that's raising the bar for health center analytics.

Relevant’s mission is to support community health centers in their drive to improve patient health. We do this by providing smart, friendly analytics software, along with hands-on support and consulting to help health centers tackle all kinds of data challenges. Today, we work with more than 65 health centers, located in diverse communities across the U.S.

Health centers love working with us, and our services team is a key reason why. This team helps clients use Relevant to improve patient care, and assists them in resolving organization-wide pain points around data and reporting along the way. They act as a resource for the health center’s internal data team, helping them solve hard problems, sharing knowledge and best practices, and building up their internal capacity.

Main responsibilities

  • Provide analytics support to our health centers. Manage and execute data initiatives for health centers. Build reports and data visualizations and manage daily ETL troubleshooting. Provide training and technical assistance to health center data teams.

  • Manage incoming consulting and support tasks. Triage incoming client consulting and support requests, building reports and data visualizations for clients yourself or assigning them to the project lead for that client as appropriate. Assist in scoping larger projects as needed.

  • Build and improve processes to manage Relevant’s central consulting and support queues and improve daily ETL. Capture details on common requests that can become standard reports and measures and collaborate with Relevant’s principal analyst to build them. Help health center staff make clearer, more quickly actionable requests. Develop and maintain project management tools and process documentation for the team. Support our Head of Services in ensuring that our processes for managing client needs and daily ETL are being executed as effectively as possible.

  • Support new health center implementations. Map EMR data points, write lots of SQL, and support training and roll-out plans.

  • Become an expert user of our platform. Test new features and propose improvements and new features based on user feedback. Collaborate with the broader Relevant team to address product feedback and support issues.

Qualifications

Must have:

  • A passion for solving analytical problems, and the SQL skills to do so. Ideally, you’re comfortable with concepts like subqueries, temp tables, and window functions, or have the desire and aptitude to learn them.

  • Two or more years’ experience extracting and cleaning data from electronic health record systems, or other similarly messy and complex production systems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You’ll need to write clear and compelling emails about complex subjects and lead effective conversations with a variety of health center stakeholders. You’ll also be a central point of contact for all of the consultants on our services team.

  • Strong project management skills with a mind for process and a desire to create order from chaos. You're undaunted by juggling multiple concurrent projects with lots of moving pieces and can make progress even as priorities change and personalities intervene. Most successful applicants will have two or more years’ experience doing this in a fast-paced and/or high-stakes environment.

  • You are nice, and you value collaboration!

Nice to have:

  • Experience working in a client- or external stakeholder-facing role

  • Experience in or a desire to work in a young company where many things are yet to be figured out. Even better if you'd like to help do that.

  • Familiarity with and interest in the landscape of healthcare quality improvement and population health management. You care about helping people provide great patient care!

  • Excel wizardry. For example, we'd love for you to know everything there is to know about pivot tables.

  • Some experience with scripting languages such as Python or Ruby, or a desire and aptitude to learn.

  • Familiarity with a BI platform such as Tableau, Qlik, Cognos, PowerBI or Crystal.
