Head of Analytics Services

New York, NY or Remote / Full-time

Relevant’s mission is to support community health centers in their drive to improve patient health. We do this by providing smart, friendly analytics software, along with hands-on support and consulting to help health centers tackle all kinds of data challenges. Today, we work with more than 65 health centers, located in diverse communities across the U.S.

Health centers love working with us, and our analytics services team is a key reason why. The team leads implementations of our platform, often helping to resolve long-standing organizational pain points around data and reporting along the way. After implementation, they act as a resource for the health center’s internal data team, helping them solve hard problems, sharing knowledge and best practices, and building up their internal capacity.

Each person on this team has top-notch technical and problem-solving capabilities, strong project management skills and the interest and ability to form and manage strong relationships with the people at our health centers.

The role

We’re looking for a Head of Analytics Services to manage our relationships with key customers, provide day-to-day leadership and management of our analytics team, and help shape the development of that team as we grow.

Strong applicants may come from a variety of backgrounds, including data and analytics, program implementation, customer success, or operations roles. If you have a track record as an outstanding manager or director of data at a health center, hospital, or ACO, or have led a growing customer-facing function in a consulting or modern B2B SaaS company, we’d especially love to talk with you.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver for our health center clients. You’ll have broad responsibility for managing relationships with our customers. You’ll handle a very small number of accounts directly and provide oversight for others. You and your team will run regular meetings with the customers’ leadership teams and find creative ways to solve their problems. Earn their trust as someone who gets it, and gets stuff done.

  • Manage the services team. Cultivate a fun, motivated, effective services team. You’ll manage the work of a team of extremely talented analysts, who are responsible for implementation, ongoing professional services, customer success, and technical support for our clients. Pitch in where appropriate, develop and track appropriate metrics to ensure quality, make sure everyone has the support they need, build strong, effective management relationships, help this team develop, and help us grow the team.

  • Improve our service delivery model. Integrate ongoing measurement and customer feedback to improve what we offer. Share insights on drivers of high/low adoption to product and sales for action and continuous improvement. Think strategically about company resources and improving the way we work.

  • Help improve our platform. You’ll know just about everything there is to know about our software: how it works, how it’s being used, what it does well, what needs improvement. Working with our product and engineering teams, lead your team in advocating for changes that will make the biggest impact.

What we’re looking for

Must have:

  • Strong project management skills. You're undaunted by - and actually like - complex, fast-moving projects. You can make progress even as priorities compete and personalities intervene. Your style is friendly and collaborative, but you also know how to push for answers and escalate when necessary. You’re a good listener.

  • Passion for developing people and managing a team. You’ve led at least one team and developed core people management skills. You enjoy helping people grow, appreciate how hard good management is, have read some books about it, and reflected on your experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You can lead effective, consultative conversations with a variety of health center stakeholders, including technical folks, clinicians, and executives. You’re adept at communicating about technical subjects with non-technical people, and vice versa. You’d be ready to produce polished, client-facing documents and edit the work of others as needed.

  • Passion for solving tricky problems. You’re good at navigating around obstacles, pulling in support from others as needed, and keeping stakeholders updated along the way. You have a particular passion for solving analytical problems. Specifically, at some point in your career, you gained a track record of successfully navigating both complex technical challenges and organizational politics to produce analytics that drive organizational change in healthcare organizations.

  • A desire to improve health outcomes, with a focus on equity and social justice. We’re building tools used by safety-net organizations that are fighting health disparities, and are looking for candidates who find this focus compelling.

  • Also, you are nice, and you value collaboration. Feelings matter, especially when you’re leading a team. You are easy to work with and often sought out to join a team.

Nice to have:

  • Experience extracting clinical, operational, and financial data from electronic health record systems.

  • Experience in a young company where many things are yet to be figured out. Even better if you'd like to help do that.

  • Knowledge of and interest in healthcare quality improvement and population health management.

  • Experience in, or knowledge of, Federally Qualified Health Centers.

  • Excel and SQL wizardry. Thorough knowledge of a BI platform such as Tableau, Qlik, Cognos, or Crystal would also be a plus. It’s also great if you have some experience with scripting languages such as Python or Ruby, or a desire and aptitude to learn.

Working at Relevant

  • Join a small team of people (currently, there are 21 of us) who love delighting our users and making a positive impact through tech.

  • Help us build a company culture that’s friendly, respectful, and encourages continual learning.

  • Competitive salary, excellent benefits, 401(k), PTO policy approaching European levels, general emphasis on happiness and sanity.

  • We’re based in NYC but 100% remote-friendly.
